As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission conforms to the Committee or Group report template, as applicable. You may download the report template from the submissions page.
  • The submission is in Microsoft Word (DOCX), Open/Libre Office (ODT), or rich text (RTF) format.
  • The text is single-spaced and uses a common font with consistently sized headings. The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed., is the standard style guide for all Atla publications.
  • Any images for publication must comply with the Atla Open Press Visual Materials Guidelines. Please review these guidelines prior to submitting image content. If it is not possible to provide your image(s) in compliance with these guidelines, please contact us at at connect@atla.com.
  • If images are included, full attribution or citation has been provided within the text of the submission (including title, artist, etc., as well as the URL if the image came from a website). If the image is reproduced with permission of the copyright holder, evidence of such permission should be attached as a separate file during the submission process. If the image is licensed via Creative Commons, or if the author has reason to believe that the image is otherwise available for use (public domain, fair use, etc.) this should be stated in the comments field during the submissions process.

Your work is a valuable contribution to the Association and reflects the core purpose of Atla to promote worldwide scholarly communication in religion and theology by advancing the work of libraries and related information providers. To submit, you will need to register (if you have not done so already) and login at http://0-serials.atla.com.librarycatalog.vts.edu/yearbook. Once logged in, you may either visit the submissions page and “Start a New Submission” or, from the user dashboard, select "Start a New Submission." Either route will take you to the submission form where you will select the type of submission you are making, add details about your submission, and then upload your document(s). Please use the template for group reports and the template for committee reports to ensure compliance with the submission guidelines.  We also direct you to the Atla Open Press House Style Guidelines for further guidance on such matters as how to refer to Atla in a historical context and best practices for inclusive language.

The following are responsible for submitting their reports to the annual Yearbook by July 15:

  • Interest Groups
  • Denominational Groups
  • Committees and Task Forces

(Note that the Yearbook is for annual reports of these groups only; if your group presented at Atla Annual, please submit to the Proceedings.)

Persons submitting Memorials should upload the text of those documents following the general submission guidelines given above.

Accurate and complete information is the responsibility of the submitter. Atla is not responsible for any errors in the spelling of, or omission of, a committee or group members. All submissions must be completed by July 15. Following receipt, all submissions will be formatted according to the Yearbook style.
